Q: How do I go about getting a room change once the year has begun?

A: 居住生活 has a two-week housing freeze at the beginning of fall semester, which means there will be NO room changes during this time in order to allow everyone to get settled. Room changes are permitted for students if and when roommates are having adjustment problems and for other special circumstances. Prior to a room change being approved, students are expected to have made a good faith effort toward resolving the roommate situation. This includes completing a Roommate Agreement Form, discussing the situation with an RA or professional staff member, going through the mediation process, and completing a roommate conference if requested.

Four basic criteria must be met for a change to occur:

  1. 学生 involved have done their best to resolve the roommate situation
  2. Vacant space is available
  3. 学生 affected have each consented to the change
  4. The 住房 Coordinator has approved the change

NOTE for University Towers Residents:
University Towers is considered older student and graduate housing. We do not provide roommates. We are happy to provide a list of potential roommate options upon request, 然而, it is the resident's responsibility to secure a roommate to receive the double occupancy rate. If a roommate is to leave at any point in the term, the remaining resident will be responsible for finding a replacement roommate or inherit the single occupancy cost.

Q: What are the "house rules" for residence hall students?

A: Every community needs guidelines to ensure that it continues to function and be of optimum value to its members. Some residence hall guidelines exist to preserve and enhance the unique mission, message and lifestyle of the Seventh-day Adventist Church. Some are here to enhance the educational environment essential to achieving physical, spiritual and academic health. Others are simply here to assist in the smooth operation of a large and constantly changing community. Try to remember that policies which sometimes limit you may eventually benefit you, as well. We encourage you to develop mature responses toward the following guidelines. If you still have questions after reading the Handbook, do bring your questions to a staff member.
